Laynie Hope- 11 weeks old
Hello all, just wanted to send you a quick update on missy. At the orthopedic this week, she weighed in at 4 lbs. 9 oz! That 1/2 tsp of formula in her 1 oz of breast milk seems to be doing the trick! She is sleeping 5-6 hours at a stretch during the night now, and is on a pretty good schedule of every 3 hours during the day. She LOVES to eat. She takes after Lolly on that one.

Lacey took her casts off Tuesday night, since her appointment was early Wed morning, and morning isn’t their fastest moving time.... so Brad filmed the baby getting her bath and when Lacey soaped up her hands and washed those little legs and feet (castless) Smidge COO’d, smiled, then giggled. We have it on film! I’m going to try to upload it this weekend on my computer and figure out a way to get it to you guys. What a sweetheart. She smiles ALOT now, and it just makes your heart sing.

She is spending the night with me tonight, and the jury is still out on if mommy will make it all night, or if I’ll have a midnight visitor. :) It’s all good, I did the same thing when I was a new mommy years ago. As you have more, it becomes a treat to have them spend the night elsewhere, but that first one.....shazaam... your heart just can’t hardly stand it. I’ve got the diapers/wipees bought... got the swing in place, I’m baby ready.

Her hips are perfect. We will keep her in her harness for another month or so, just to make sure as she grows, they stay in place. Her feet are perfectly sideways now, instead of backwards, so there is definite improvement. Dr. Herndon feels very happy about them. She will wear them for many months though. She doesn’t seem to mind them and it adds a whopping 3 oz. to her weight. When the Dr was moving her hips to feel them, she raised her head up and yelled at him. He said "What a personality!". Yep, we think so, too.

The Sooner Start people came yesterday and did Laynie’s evaluation. She is automatically enrolled simply because she has a chromosomal defect, but they went ahead and evaluated her "skills" as well. She was VERY sleepy when they came, so she didn’t show off, like she normally would, and get this.. the evaluator was someone Lacey knows from church! God is sooo Good. She told Lacey she was very impressed with Smidge’s accomplishments, and they are very encouraged by all the things she already does. She didn’t follow light too well (Lacey had just dilated her eye, so the light might have been too much) and she’s not much of a grasper.... only when it’s her idea. :) She holds my fingers with both hands while she takes her bottle, (I love that) and she has started to suck on her fingers too, so all of that is wonderful. Time will tell with our little gift, we’re thrilled with every accomplishment, you’d think we’d scaled Mt. Everest... and to us, it is.

We are almost to her 3 month birthday. Wrap your mind.. 3 months. Happy baby, healthy baby, alert baby, sweetest nature, our precious little angel. I’ll have new pics this weekend to share, but for now... keep praying -- because all our incredibly heartfelt prayers for this little girl are working, because God is good... all the time. Thanks and love to you all--- Lolly
